Members of the Canadian Institute of Planners who have declared residency in Nova Scotia are automatically eligible to become members of the Licensed Professional Planners Association of Nova Scotia. You must still complete an Application Form.
Types of Membership
The classes of membership are as follows:
- Candidate Member
- Licensed Member
- Charter Licensed Member
Upon adoption of the LPPANS Bylaw, every Full Member (MCIP) of the Canadian Institute of Planners (CIP) resident in Nova Scotia became a Charter Licensed Member of LPPANS. At the same time all Provisional Members or Student Members of CIP residing in Nova Scotia became Candidate Members of the Association. After the adoption of the Bylaw new members who are Full Members of the CIP joining LPPANS are deemed Licensed Members.
Becoming a Member
If you wish to become a member of LPPANS, you can apply to the registrar of LPPANS by completing an Application Form. Please ensure to provide proof of your CIP membership.
Membership in LPPANS is always linked to membership in the Canadian Institute of Planners. For more detailed information about CIP membership you can reference their website’s membership section. Check out the Roadmap to becoming a member.
It should be noted that CIP membership is administered through their regional affiliates across Canada. In Nova Scotia the regional affiliate of the CIP is the Atlantic Planners Institute (API), and we – LPPANS – are the Nova Scotia provincial branch of the API.
We understand that the organization of the various professional organizations can be confusing and we encourage you to contact us with any questions about membership.
