Managing Assets for Sustainable Communities – A CIP Training Workshop

April 17, 2018 @ 10:00 am - 3:30 pm

LPPANS is partnering with CIP to deliver an asset management workshop in Nova Scotia. The workshop is scheduled for April 17, 2018 in Bible Hill, NS at the Dalhousie Agricultural Campus.

Managing Assets for Sustainable Communities: A CIP Training Series

Asset management is vital for Canada’s smaller, rural, and remote communities. About 1,000 of CIP’s members work directly with these communities. Asset management is needed to decide what assets to keep, what to retire, and what is fundamental for the future.

CIP is committed to Continuing Professional Learning (CPL). CIP members report that asset management is integral to their professional development, to the sustainability of their municipal employers, and to the long-term wellbeing of the communities they serve.

The Managing Assets for Sustainable Communities Training Series helps municipalities develop the skills to take asset management from theory to practice.

The training session is approximately 5 hours in duration, including lunch. The registration fee for LPPANS members is free. For non-LPPANS members there is a nominal fee of $50 which includes lunch. Students are also free to attend.

Project Team

This project, Managing Assets for Sustainable Communities, is led by an Advisory Team made up of professional planners and CIP staff. CIP has contracted a training team comprised of Lourette Swanepoel RPP, MCIP, ENVSP and Guy Félio, PhD P.Eng. FSCE IRP of Stantec Consulting to develop and deliver the training content.

This initiative is available through the Municipal Asset Management Program, which is delivered through the Federation of Canadian Municipalities and funded by the Government of Canada.
